“You are dead meat, Paul!” Carl kicked at a rock and missed, falling on his backside. He jumped up as a wave of red colored his face. “Oh, great,” he said wiping at his dirtied shirt. “Where’s my cell?” A look in his pockets—nothing. “Where is it?” Carl wiped his shirt. “I hate spots … Okay, this isn’t happening.” Carl looked again. “Where’s my compass? I know I had it.” Carl’s cool melted. “Paul, come out, or I’ll never talk to you again!” A caterpillar scooched across a low hanging tree branch and did some impressive wriggling to get Carl’s attention, but Carl was too busy freaking out …
